I am legitimately afraid that people will be angry with me and stop reading over the mere suggestion that Oridell's story ended this way.
Please know two things:
1. If I put a character through hell, it's probably out of love for them.
2. Sometimes I write sad things, but in general as an author I am a fan of good vibes and happy endings.
Thanks always for reading.

I think this is *brilliant* storytelling, and you as an author have been consistently creative and enthralling! Please keep it up and tell the story you want to tell!

Rav is Oridell, isn’t he?

If that were the case he’d have a big stonking tattoo on his hand,

Illusion magic? Maybe physical makeup? There are options to hide such a thing.

You kidding, this makes me even more interested in the differences between the stories commoners hear and the ones church members learn!

You should have a hell of a lot more faith in your readers DT, we’re here for your beautiful story, even if it contains bittersweet moments the overall work has been wonderful so far and will no doubt continue to be so.

ORIDELL IS A LICH CONFIRMED

You’ll have to hurt me way more than that to make me stop reading. True things hurt sometimes, and that’s ok. Being untrue to your story and characters, being gratuitously terrible for no good reason, punching down at groups of people who need protecting…those are things maybe I’d stop reading over. I’ve not seen any indication that you are that kind of writer so far, and I am completely optimistic and curious about where this story goes. Don’t fret.

Someone pointed out that Sticks looks a lot like Oridell. I am inclined to go a little further and say he *is* Oridell which would cover a number of things like why he so very much wanted Eggie to NOT be an agent of the gods, why he remains so emotionally detatched, and why he seems more sad/disappointed than angry that Ivan is getting caught up in everything.

That could be the reason DT does not show Oridel’s face

I concur with The Noodler:

Okay, that was nowhere NEAR as tragic and awful as I was expecting! *Phew*. I mean, losing your family is certainly tragic, especially when a child dies young, but that can happen for all sorts of reasons, including plagues/illnesses not caused by giant undead shadows. I’m excited to find out someday what actually happened to Oridell.

Latrans might be on to something here….

Great story arc. I’m here for the long haul, DT.

Honestly, any other way and story wouldn’t be as good.
