What was the ethics of magic classes like back at the temple? Are there laws covering the legal ownership of magic words? How badly are you in violation of magical ethics right now? And if you are do you plan on using this ethics that in part you clearly don't agree with?

my peepaw was eaten alive by the neighbors cow one time. Tom Steaks. the cow disappeared after that night. cows are to be feared if you haven't earned their respect.

Well, different organizations of magic like to keep their words secret, but there's no actual legal precedent for owning knowledge. I can't get in trouble just for knowing the words beyond the church branding me a traitor and excommunicating me, which they're likely to do anyway.
Physically possessing the books, though, that Eggie stole from the cathedral, that I'm now knowingly holding and not trying to return?
