Chapter 3 Pages 199-200

Maybe her hands are shaking because she's just so excited about how cool and peaceful and happy her backstory is.

  1. Marlene, the bow wasn’t the issue, and, yes, you need to tell them. Let Eggie craft a fitting song worthy to honor what you loss.

  2. It’s happening, I’m so excited, what exact flavour of tragic Malene backstory trauma are we getting?

I’m thinking Ethi is gonna pull some no-good double-crossing terrible-traitor reveal on this upcoming mission, give Malene the chance to get out and let it all go down cuz she has actually caught serious feelings too, and then Malene is gonna be in a position to have to put an arrow right through her first-and-only lover’s heart to save the rest of her crew.

Do we think this shot got taken, and she’s got trauma from killing Ethi, or she couldn’t, and has trauma from what happened to people on her team after she intentionally missed the shot? What is making stronk lady’s hands shake!?

HOW MANY PEOPLE DIED FOR THIS BACKSTORY?!?? I need to knowwww.

  3. If we’re making bets, I’m calling it that Malene ends up accidently killing Ethi during a hectic battle/ambush. Maybe it’s somehow their fault the battle takes place/gets so bad bc they were distracted. Maybe they get separated by the enemy and fooled into attacking each other.

Whatever the pretext is I just have this sinking feeling that maybe Malene didn’t just leave her squad willingly, but that she was forced to step away or maybe deserted out of guilt. It would add another layer to her wanting to keep the crew’s existence so secretive; not just to keep Eggie’s chosen one status unknown, but also to cover her own tracks from anyone involved in her past.

  4. Hey DT, this is sorta unrelated to the current chapter/page, but I was wondering if you had any plans to put your music onto spotify? I’d love to be able to listen to The Ballad of Oridell or Little Bird, Broken Feather from spotify or on my alexa speakers. Been using Little Bird, Broken Feather as a lullaby for my little one for a while now, but it doesn’t sound as good from the phone’s speakers. Thanks for doing what you do!
